That is because new jobs and things came up that allowed people to still work, using technology as a tool to increase productivity.
But AI and automation in general is starting to go far beyond increasing productivity, and is instead just allowing companies to cut out labor massively.
They aren't investing billions of dollars into these technologies without hopes of massive returns.
