My sister took a class on technological history or something of the sort and something she learned in that class is that EVERY SINGLE THING humanity has created plateaus in usefulness eventually. There hasn't been a single piece or form of technology that continues to transform and develops new ways to be useful after a certain point in time. It is something new that helps us progress, and a combination of two (or more) previous technologies coming together to create a new one (electricity and coal, for example). I'm excluding discoveries, they aren't human-created. But, things created from those discoveries are human creations.
However, I'll concede this. Despite the 99.9% chance that AI may plateau eventually, because it's a human invention (and following the trend of every single human invention in history), the question is: When will it plateau and will we be around to see that point?
