I wonder if you can open the door while this kind of car is moving. Like, I can only think of 3 options:
1) The safety lock is automatically on and you physically can't open the door until the ride is over or the car is stopped
2) You can open the door but the car realizes a door is open and comes to a stop
3) The car doesn't notice a door is open and keeps driving
If it's 2 then that would make for a simple and effective emergency brake for the passenger in instances like this. If it's 3 that's just plain dangerous why would you design a self driving car like that? And if it's 1 I feel that would also cause issues where the passenger just gets trapped in the car like here.
