Fifty years, Painter and professional Illustrator here. I'm with you on someone who does AI Art and claims he painted it. Or literally copies someone's style and sells it as that persons work. Yup, stealing. On the other hand NOBODY does art without first studying the work that has gone before. They may even adopt recognizable style and techniques of others, which is called, traditionally, being "Influenced" by that Artist. So SPARE ME your "slop" about ALL usage of AI being theft. Just be original, and honest, about how you use it, it's just another tool...like a camera...which most commercial illustrators use habitually to work from...
