they are stealing:
- COPYRIGHTED artworks from people. It’s the same shit as copying someone else’s video on youtube, then say it’s yours.
-jobs. A lot of people had and are still losing their careers over these things, and there are plenty of videos about the victims’ situation — posted by themselves. a lot of people is just woefully ignorant of this, it seems.
- opportunities. If the art market 5 years ago weren’t already saturated with pro-artists, newer people are now also competing with cheap slops made from, well, AI.
- electricity. The power AI models needed FAR exceeds that of normal human consumptions. This shouldn’t be any new.
It should be clear that the creator had explained why AI is doing theft, but it seems like it had went over your head with a woosh. AI doesn’t stop you from drawing — and artists will never stop — they’re just snuffing the chances of already-established creators to pay their bills or be appreciated.
