The idea that “AI just predicts the next word” is overly simplistic. In reality, humans do something remarkably similar when we speak or write...we constantly anticipate what words, phrases, or ideas will best convey our thoughts in a given context. The difference lies in depth...humans draw on experience, intuition, and emotion, while AI relies on patterns learned from data...but the underlying process is comparable. Instead of oversimplifying, we should admit that we’re dealing with a black box, much like our own brains: we don’t fully understand how or why they operate the way they do, yet they produce coherent, complex thought.
