@TwoDotsOnAPage I suppose I have a better understanding of what you mean, and why some artists (I still call the ones you consider "craftsman" artists) aren't worried because a machine will never replace the human elements of art. The last two sentences of your comment make me wonder, though: What about the text prompting? If you type in some words and out comes an image, there's no guarantee the image the AI spits out will be what *you* the artist/craftsman envision (and oftentimes it isn't so multiple generations are needed). You aren't controlling the creative process because the AI has different ideas of how to interpret your words. Where does the creative process begin and end? At what point does AI stop being a mere tool and takes over a human's creative role? To use your sandwich analogy from your initial comment, you may have dictation over what you want on that sandwich but you aren't the one actually assembling the ingredients together. The only human input (for image generation) is the words. (Of course I'm talking about the text prompts specifically but I'm aware there's other ways artists use AI. If I can call them artists. A bit of personal beliefs leaking in there, i know, but I just get conflicted about this whole thing.)
