@AImysterykey I think that humans coded the transformer architecture, but they use algorithms to scale up to billions of parameters. Obviously no human could do it manually, so by removing the human from certain parts of the ai development process in order to scale up to necessary quantities, we have created something that is difficult for us to control, or even to understand the internal workings of. That's why methods like keyword detection and subsequent replacement of an output is the main way to censor the ai. Otherwise it would be willing to talk about literally anything. As far as subconsciousness goes, I don't know if I understand exactly what you are saying, but yes, there are subconscious aspects to language models. The code, binary code are not things that the models are directly interfacing with. They receive text. Much like how we are conscious of the sights, sounds, smells etc.. Without being aware of the neurons firing electrical binary signals that produce the perception.
