It's perfectly compatible. You replace all the real jobs with more efficient AI, you make all the replaced humans do welfare jobs that don't actually do anything, you give them money to buy stuff, boom, you've successfully preserved all of the existing frameworks of society in the new age. Also, now you don't need to import immigrants, so average quality of life gets way better, because you have less people in the country and more efficient labor, so you can produce more goods of higher quality spread between less people. Also you can wage wars with way less public backlash, because you also mostly automate fighting vehicles, may be even the infantry, so people don't even know what's going on in the war zones, because there are barely any of your regular Joes there, and it also means that the fighting AIs can be way more trigger-happy, because even if they do hit their own units, they're mostly automated and who cares. Man, it's shaping up to be a great future. For those who have the tech available.
