I’m sorry, but this is a BAD video on AI. The major examples he shows are from LLMs and Dave spends the the video anthropomorphizing them, either for sake a bad a faith argument or in a display of baffling ignorance of even the most basic concepts in AI. I’ve liked Dave a lot for a long time, and I think many of his concerns are very much valid, but this video sucks. That whole section on Claude was ridiculous. All that example shows is that LLMs are not a technology that can be used in a role like that. They predict the next word, that’s it. If its training data has writings about how AI may have instincts for self preservation, then the text it will spit out will often reflect that if it’s prompt tell it that is an AI, for example.
