@Chris-xo2rq Frankly I think A.I. is far less likely to become sentient than it is to simply disprove sentience as a concept, and humble the smartest among us into realizing ALL OF US are just machines running programs. At the very least, it makes something I heard Eric Weinstein say resonate with me. "A. I. isn't smart. It's just that a lot of us are operating at LLM levels ourselves." It was a paraphrase, but he was commenting about how most of what we say to each other in real life is basically cookie cutter greetings and small-talk of no substance. The exact kind of non-content an LLM excels at producing.
