@fightinandirish emotion stems from consciousness and consciousness is simply being aware of your own existence we are not truly conscious for the first few years of our life any emotion we display is simply programmed behavior quite literally hardcoded into us no different from a computer programmed to respond in certain ways to certain situations or stimuli
what sets us apart is that we eventually break through that now it stands to reason once we develop a more advanced neural network for robots this will also become a reality and that is the apparatus you are describing unless you are arguing the existence of a soul being the root of consciousness something im not entirely opposed to being a possibility but from a cynical perspective we are merely biological machines in every sense of the word
I also dont think the existence of a soul would totally rule this out of possibility either that would just open more questions on how a soul functions and if we can figure that out we can and would repeat its creation to the best of our ability anyway regardless of the consequences
