@tensor_verkampen This is quite accurate in my experience/opinion when it comes to AI in general as well. If people aren’t criticising it for generating ”bad images” you can point to and claim how worthless AI is, then they say it is the absolute worst because the training material is stolen, or when it is so good you can’t tell it’s AI then ”it lacks a soul” or ”art is not the result, it’s the struggle”. I have ideological reasons to be vary of the billionaires behind this technology and capitalism with AI, but I have no problem with the technology itself. And the common claim that ”we are just scaling LLMs and it will lead nowhere” is false in at least two ways: a) we are not just scaling LLMs, they are constantly being enriched with new technologies and techniques on top and we are even working on new technology with different architecture, and b) even if we were ”just” scaling LLMs, that has proven to not only become ”more of the same” but new abilities have emerged from it.
I guess LLMs are as much ”just autocomplete” as humans are ”just procreators”.
