Totally. When I worked in credit card lending, we *never* refined our models on our own customer data. And when our company went to build a chatbot, we made sure only to scrape _Project Gutenberg_ instead of the oodles of customer chat logs that were at our disposal. I'm sure that every AI-as-a-service company puts "we have the right to refine our model based on your usage data" clause in just to throw off competitors. 🙄
