We've already proven that we're more than capable of being left alone in the forest because that's where we started.
What he's talking about is that robots lack the means of AI. A robot cannot think for itself so it cannot asses a situation it's not programmed to handle. A lost Human will still search for water and food, take shelter and seek shade. A robot cannot do these things autonomously because it lacks self-awareness.
