The AI version really does feel like it's dumbing her down to "sexy wolf girl" as opposed to the more complicated character we actually get in the movie. It's funny that you mentioned you're not familiar with Princess Mononoke, because I would venture to say that might've been the case with whoever generated that image - they probably saw a few screenshots and just assumed it was another generic romance about a guy "taming" some feral chick XD
