@randomnickifyYes, but the simplicity of saying "You can't copyright AI works" causes people to believe that even AI assisted work can't be copyrighted. It's either being said out of misunderstanding or deception. If the person saying it knows that AI assisted works can be copyrighted then saying it without adding in that caveat is intended to misinform by concealing part of the situation.
