The error rate is too high. What the greedy executives don't realize is AI code is going to cost them a lot more in the long run than simply keeping software devs on staff
It's a LOT harder to read and verify AI written code is correct than it is for a human to write correct code from the get go.
AI makes deep logical errors whereas humans make superficial minor errors (such as off by 1, null pointer access, memory leak). It's much harder to fix deep logical errors.
As long as AI hallucinates or makes illogical conclusions, the software it produces cannot be trusted without human oversight. I genuinely believe they will be rushing to hire back those developers, but only after making everyone suffer for 5+ years.
They are currently in the FA phase. Later will come the FO phase.
