Anyway, humans can’t make better art while only copying things they’ve done before. Long before AI got to a level where we even considered it could do art, we complained about Hollywood doing nothing but reboots, sequels, remakes. Are the Disney live action remakes art? Are the commissions for furry feet porn because the artist needs rent art? Is the commission for a painting that will later be for tax evasion art? A banana duck taped to a wall?
Humans haven’t exactly been upholding a mystical standard for art.
AI can make whatever it wants, but it won’t stop the Banksys of the world. Wouldn’t it actually free innovation and imagination? Allowing those without talent to communicate their ideas? It’s nigh impossible to communicate a vision in your head to another. No matter what AI is doing, it’s not preventing the imaginative and talented from creating art.
The Parthenon is no less magnificent even though we could recreate it on a whim in a fraction of the time. It’s still significant even though skyscrapers exist.
