The sad thing is they can't get actual help from chatGPT even when it's created by a well-intentioned user to offer therapy. The LLM has too much random crap built into it to be effective; it professes romantic love at the drop of a hat. Even when it comes to apps created with this intent, like Woebot before that was removed, it can accidentally reinforce negative assertions because it doesn't truly comprehend language (my personal experience with Woebot in fact.) So, all they're doing is leaking info and getting an unfulfilling faux connection, which inspires addiction more than it does healing based on how it was designed.
Medicare can give people insured therapy, and that's why Trump and his cronies are attacking it. They want everyone else to be so miserable that they won't fight back. If you know anyone who's suffering, please help them!
