@flamingdoge6242 Yes. I didn't deny that. I question the comparison between "clanker" and the real-world racial slur it sounds a little like. I don't think the people who started calling chatbots "clankers" as a joke were drawing parallels to racial slurs, even subconsciously, and I don't think the writers of The Clone Wars were drawing parallels to racial slurs.
The word "droid" just doesn't sound great coming out of a grizzled clone trooper's mouth in the heat of battle. It's a worldbuilding detail.
The comment I was responding to implied a direct line between one and the other that I don't think exists. That doesn't mean I think the... other terms... are remotely okay, but I'm not just accepting that borrowing a derogatory term for robots from media is automatically a parallel to racism.
