Yeah but it's been a trope in sci-fi for forever. What else are you supposed to do with incalculable wealth in the endgame of Stelaris?
I personally think it's a silly idea because any civilization that can solve the basically unsolvable physics and material science of building the damn thing would have no use for the energy to be gained. No way they can build the thing and not have figured out nuclear fusion or some other futuristic energy technology that would be cheaper and easier to scale! It would be like building a nuclear powered robot to mine for coal to burn for energy. Dyson spheres will be just another flex for rich people.
