Performance of the US and China top AI models are very similar on a per token basis. Having cheaper tokens means bigger bang for the bucks in the world market. It enables them to be more competitive, wider adoption, greater market dominance and influence around the world. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll have higher revenue and profitabilities, which is not necessary their top priority right now.
