It's true, people don't want to put in the legwork to learn the craft of writing well, and now that they've got a tool they think will be a magic bullet for them, they're eager to use it to make their dreams come true. But it's an illusion, there are many parts of the writing process outside of the draft phase, but that's an important part of it, and probably the one i see most people eager to skip past. Ironically though, they'll have the same issues you see others developing an over-reliance on AI have, and that's that you can't become good at something you aren't doing. You're less likely to spot problems in the chatbot outputs for the story you're having it make than you would be if you'd taken the time to become an expert at writing first. But that's a slow hard process, and people are always going to gravitate towards what's easy over what's effective. It's been rather hilarious to see a couple lazy romance authors getting caught out for publishing books recently, where at some point in the book it included the chatbot response to the passage they had it write / rewrite for them. They of course issues bland non-apologies for getting caught, but really the readers should just be black balling their future work if they don't want to read AI written stuff, since it's clear they can't be trusted at that point.
