I’m hopeful, and this is why:
- Algorithms that steal art will by definition always be vulnerable to poisoning tactics. After all, you are what you eat.
- Artificial intelligence that can create art indistinguishable from human-created art will by definition have to be capable of creating original art. To put it another way, it will have to be some sort of General AI that can meaningfully interpret, understand, reason about, and act on any arbitrary pattern it senses. For instance, it could recognize if it’s being exploited, specifically by people who are lazy, careless, and extremely trusting in their technology, and you know… take action.
