It's not that messy because these AI models need constant reinforcing in order to get things right. Notice how they've been so focused on style of other artists that they struggle with hands. So it's clear that the intention of the inventors is to copy with an emphasis on recognition of the style of the artists they're training the models on. This is the heart of copyright in the case of Jon Fogerty vs Credence Clearwater Revisited.
