I do worry about the reliability of them. If a taxi or uber driver crashes their car, they are responsible for any harm they cause you. Self driving car companies that expect you to be monitoring your car as it drives itself can push the blame on you for their own mistakes. This is most clearly the case with Tesla, where their cars will stop self-driving if they see an imminent crash. This allows Tesla to not have to be legally liable for the harm they cause if their cars fail.
