personally, my intentions on using AI-generated art for more than just amusing myself in the moment (with consideration that i would be using these for literary illustrations instead of video games) is to make placeholder art and specifically note when i'm using that with the intention of replacing them with commissioned artwork if and when it would actually be published not only for legal purposes but also to more accurately get what i really want for it.
