AI is a tool like any that humans have leveraged to expand our capacity. The greatest tool that humans have created is civilization. We use each other to solve our problems and always continue to do so even if there is a cabal of evil billionaires that decided they don't need us anymore. They may fuck off. We will continue to trade, serve and fuck. These billionaires have simply placed themselves as a cheap channel to another human who actually solves your problem. Now the fear is that, at the end of this cheap channel is a robot that solves your problem. Say at the end of all problem solving channels is a robot. It would result in nobody but billionaires getting paid and everybody else spending. Eventually making everybody broke and all the channels becoming unused, even the billionaire's stop getting paid and civilization will collapse. Right? Wrong! If me as a white or blue worker were to be completely replaced by a robot, I would try my best to figure out an alternative source of sustainance. In our history, we have faced technological disruptions that significantly change our way of life and work. Technology disruptions: 0. Fire revolution (100k BC): Learning to manipulate fire led us to being top predator on earth. Wield power from fossils at scales unimaginable changing the way we do things. Even eating cooked food. Resulting in high brain activity. Imagining God's. Creating Large groups. 1. Agricultural revolution (10k BC): We turned from becoming roaming hunter gatherer tribal to settlements that farm our food. Most farmed not hunted. 2. Industrial Revolution, 1.5-2k AD: Machines that replaced muscle jobs. 3. Intelligence Revolution, 1.9-2.1k AD: Machines that replaced thinking jobs The billionaire's/unfairly powerful have existed throughout history, this is the problem arising out of the best solution we have for civilization/collaboration whether it's capitalism or socialism. Maybe we can figure out a better solution. Maybe it's about time we got rid of these Uber powerful greedy monkeys having control over our lives. Maybe AI is the tipping point for us to figure out our independence from the structures that create billionaires.
