Just take a look at cyberpunk if you need a reality check.
"Oh it's just a fictional video game" yeah, that the creators based on corperations controlling almost everything in life. The game is meant to be an IRL wake up call.
We are speedrunning cyberpunk reality, like it or not, more likely a less awesome version of it without cyberware.
