I am a high school sophomore in entirely honors and ap classes. Nearly everyone is using AI in some form or another. I refuse to for a lot of reasons, but it really comes down to I want to learn. I like getting good grades, but that’s not why I am there. Most students do not see the value in learning, they just see a graduation requirement. Why should they spend the hours to learn to write an essay on the American revolution when AI can do it for them? For tests, those students don’t score well, they rely on homework, essays, etc. to pass the class. This might just be my school, but I think the main problem behind AI and the school system in general is it isn’t created to foster the gaining of knowledge, but to score well on state tests and pass the class.
