Part of the problem is that talentless people now feel as if they "generate" art, and that process gives them a sense of ownership, perhaps even a sense of worth, as in "hey! Look what I have done!". Unfortunately, they don't realize they've literally done and generated nothing.
Disclosure: I'm a talentless person, but at least I realize I have nothing to do with what's being generated. It's been a fun tool to play with, but I have no illusions about my role in the process. The extent of my expertise is the ability to press the enter key after typing a prompt.
When users of AI Art Generators argue against the rights of artists, they should answer why they hide the prompts they used to generate "their" renderings . . . it's because they, hypocritically, don't want others copying what they created.
Another part of the problem is that the Music example you give came about through lobbying of powerful media organizations. There is no (current) equivalent force pushing for the rights of visual artists as they tend to have niche followings.
Finally, in behavior and practice, most of humanity are douchebags, adding nothing to the beauty of the world. One might imagine it's only the internet, but sadly, no; it's how things are. People have been trained to feel entitled to . . . well, to do anything they want.
Thank you for pointing this out. I've dabbled in three of the tools, and I'm now more aware of the underlying issues and will adjust accordingly, as well as see what I can do to push awareness (I have no following, so it won't mean much).
