They are doing this because the end goal is their dystopian world they are creating, and in that dystopian world hundreds of thousands of people will be starving , and guess who will not pull over with a truck full of food for you because they have empathy? A driverless armored truck. They will run you right over and continue on to their destination as most people starve and perish.
