Seems like datacenters are a useful way to keep oil prices up and up. China's manufacturing sector has sizes and process efficiencies that are hard to compete against. So, US is trying the next best thing : energy supplier to the world. But once a lowlife gambler, always a lowlife gambler. So, hidden in this haystack of legit datacenter operations, are a number of energy sink datacenters .. which winnow data for the sake of winnowing. Like calculating for the sake of calculating, which is cryptos, the mining of which is also distributed, unregulated.
Energy plays disguised as computational intelligence plays. Scarcity generator prancing around as a cornucopia ( of AI ) engine. "Untold benefits" indeed.
