Even in the best case, where we are replaced in all things by AI and AI-based machines, land owners won't let you live somewhere without rent money. They theoretically could, but they won't. Same is true for mortgages. Banks could theoretically throw-up their hands and say "we don't want money any more," but that's unlikely.
