The AI is being trained on good drivers, which necessitates occasionally "breaking" the rules, like going over solid lines when safe. Creeping out into intersections past the solid line is another practical example where in order to safely see oncoming traffic, one must inch out into the intersection for the full view. I think police will eventually just fall in line as it gets more common.
