The number of dumbass comments here is more depressing than anything they've said in the video. I swear over half these comments are from people that either didn't listen to the whole video or are just too thick to understand it. The most frequent comment is 'no job so no one to buy anything'. Right, because no CEO or economist ever thought of _that_ 🙄 Of course that's stupid because there will be UBI globally. And of course you'll be able to buy things. Every single government on earth is working on the best way to do that with various types of UBI. And you're all talking as if this is going to happen overnight. It isn't. This will be decades in the making. Gradually humans will have to get it through their thick skulls that having a job isn't what gives your life purpose. Nor is it what defines you. Humans need to be useful and have a purpose, yes. But do all of you seriously think only a job can provide that? Work gives us purpose and what we do does define us. But work isn't exactly the same thing as a job. Do you like to paint, build engines, fix things, maybe just help people, or take care of other people's pets, or brainstorm with others on how to fix a problem or overcome some obstacle. The point is that all the things you might enjoy about a job are things you'll still be able to do. Things that others will want a human for. There will always be those who prefer to talk to or interact with another human. That's not going to change. If anything there'll be more demand for that. Rather than have 9-5 jobs at some building working for some company, people will have a UBI that eliminates the worry about whether or not you'll have food, or a home or electricity. Along with UBI will be universal healthcare. They go hand in hand. Same with education. The problem so many people can't seem to wrap their heads around, is that jobs and money will no longer be our driving motivation in life. That scares a lot of people because it's too alien for them to imagine. It scares them. The value of each of us is measured in our relationships and our character. In our friends and family. In our goals and accomplishments. When you ask most adults what their life goals are, the things they want to do before they die or the thing they want to be remembered for, have you ever heard anyone say it was their job? Or even something related to their job? No, it rarely ever is. That's because we all know that there's more important things than your job or even career. AI will unlock everyone's ability to skip the mind numbing, tedious years of working a job, and let us skip to what's really important. The things _we_ want to do. The reason so many people feel the need to attack or criticize this future is that the past several generations of humans have been trained to be consumers. And being a consumer drives selfishness. Remove consumerism and greed becomes less important. And connections with others grows in value. For those who didn't watch all the way through, or didn't pay close enough attention, they explained why this absurd idea that AI will allow the rich and powerful to rule the world. It's exactly the opposite. AI and eventually humanoid robots will make the cost of goods and services plummet. Most everyone agrees with that. And when money becomes less important, so does class. He even gave an example of a boardroom where the CEO becomes less and less important as everyone else in a company realize they don't contribute anything more than anyone else - thanks to AI. All these paranoid fantasies people are posting make no sense when you look at them just a little closer. The rich and powerful will get more powerful and everyone else will starve and die. Right. How exactly? When their products are being made more cheaply and more and more people have the same access as they do, they lose power. Boards are going to fire or kick out their CEO's because they are not needed. Which will lead to workers demanding boards get fired or step down because AI is doing everything they used to do, so they don't need them. The same is true of government. Look at world banking. Most folks don't realize that computers and AI run global finances. They have to because no one person or group of people can keep track or even understand it all anymore. That's happening with ditribution of goods now too. And transportation logistics. Why have a bunch of guys, or one company or one government get rich doing these things when AI does it all far better. Anyone who thinks only working class blue and white collar will be out of jobs isn't paying attention. AI will put all of them out of work. Ceo's and politicians will be in the same boat. So just stop with the bullshit that some rich elites are going to build armies of robots to genocide the masses so they can sit on a throne somewhere. That kind of ridiculous, nonsensical crap melts away with the tiniest application of logic and common sense. But notice I never said it's going to be a utopia either. This is going to be the roughest transition humans have had to go through, maybe ever. There's going to be suffering and who knows how many painful adjustments. Mainly because we've become hardwired to think only a job can give you dignity and only buying things can bring you joy. Human society will have to change. And it will. But it's going to take much longer than I think most people expect. AI can do a lot and is getting better by the hour. But physically, we're still at the apex. It's going to take awhile before embodied AI in humanoid bodies will be able to do everything we can.
