The bit I don’t get about the existential threat of AI is if you accept super intelligent silicone based is inevitable and we as a species are effectively immaterial, why would it clear the deck of humans? It’s not as if we consciously target eradication (with the exception of harmful pathogens) we’re not harmful to it, we don’t really compete meaningfully in its needs, energy for computation etc. why wouldn’t it either A)ignore us or B) keep us as interesting fauna
