No mention of the charging infrastructure needed for a future with all robo-taxis. In order for this reality to happen, there will need to be about 100 times the amount of charging available since there will need to be somewhere for the taxis to charge. Waymo will need competition in order to remain at a reasonable cost once no one is driving anymore and all those vehicles will need to charge somewhere. And in that future, won't there be just as many robo-taxis as there were personal cars since people will still need to get from one place to another at the times they need? And building a public transit system, like trains, is immensely complicated and includes using eminent domain to take the property of people in the way of the proposed lines. In a progressive area like LA, it seems unlikely that people will be ok with forcibly removing people from their homes or small businesses - even if they are "justly compensated." Everyone who references Japanese trains should also note that the vast majority of the trains there are above ground. Building extensions to their network is highly disruptive to the people who are impacted - but the citizenry all agree that it is the means to the end that will benefit the most people. The US is a more egocentric nation and that thinking has been eroded over the last 30 years or so.
