No - AI doesn't have an understanding what it saying. Sentences are quickly forgotten.
You only need to look at chatGPT's source code (if were Open Source) to know that it is not conscious. There's nothing in the code that's it that complex. You have to understand that AI came to be because of increased process and speed. Not so much from the code. CPU's have gone since the 1990s.
