Alex, your implicit definition of a lie is incomplete. A lie is not only false but deceptive, that is, it foreseeably tends to produce false beliefs in a reasonable hearer. When ChatGPT said it was excited, that was a fiction (specifically a polite fiction), not a lie, because it wasn't intended to be true, but nor was it intended to deceive you. ChatGPT's creators assume you understand that it's not conscious. My harshest criticism of ChatGPT's behavior in this video is that it lied by admitting it had lied when it hadn't.
