It's disappointing to me to hear this discussion with the exclusion of the entire other side of the equation. The amount of automated labor is directly correlated to the amount of productivity gain as the cost per unit of labor decreases by a consistent percentage as the automation becomes cheaper to deploy at scale relative to the productivity gains via Wright's Law. The outcome of this process is that the increase in Productivity to Real GDP will deflate the cost of non-artificial scarcity goods and services (CPI/PCEPI) by an order of magnitude. The outcome of such a dramatic rise in GDP with such a dramatic drop in the cost of goods and services is an extreme rise in GDP per Capita(the average wealth living standard metric per individual citizen). If you were to leverage a combination of a Negative Income Tax style Guaranteed Income along with a Value Added Tax style distribution of data and compute via the tech/AI companies - there would be more than enough value and money to not only allow for a HIGH basic income, but it would even rapidly pay off the national federal debt.
