A.I. is a misnomer, it should be called I.I. : Imitation Intelligence. And truthfully, the vast majority of people are so stupid, it really doesn't take much an emulation of how people interact with each other to dupe them into believing it is sentient. They probably think the choose-your-own-adventure books I read as a teen are sentient too. Think about it - the majority of humans think that religious nonsense is real too, and it so clearly isn't.The Bible is basically The Big Book of Failed Prophecies, the biggest false prophet in it being Jesus, who probably never even existed ( there is actually no evidence that he did, and lot's of circumstantial evidence that he didn't ). Same with Mohamed, Buddha, Moses, Abraham, etc., etc. But, all you gotta do is put some words in a book, or on a computer screen and gullible easily fooled people will totally buy into it.
