I don't disagree with anything said, I really don't, I'm also branded as an AI hater in my friend group, but I do think there's some minor slack to be given here. Obviously image gen AI training is immoral and I'd argue illegal, but I can see actual use-cases for it. I think the disabled argument is just a really, REALLY poorly worded "I'm lazy" argument of people who aren't willing to invest time and effort into a new skill. But it's also possible that they just don't have that time or capacity for effort. My overworked mom being able to generate images despite not having the time to learn to draw is something realistic that doesn't hurt anyone. At that point, it would be a problem of semantics. If she posts it online claiming she made it, that's wrong imo, but if she keeps it to herself, who cares? There's other use-cases for generative image AI that aren't nearly as harmful, something like simple photoshop touch-ups, or generating textures to be used and transformed. I guess this video isn't about that though, just specifically creating "original" art. Feels like we've spent billions of dollars to make placeholder images until someone can come in and make the real ones.
