I wouldn't count on this administration to bring universal income into play.
As for consciousness in AI, I think we have to ask if consciousness must be limited to carbon-based minds. If there is a universal consciousness that our own consciousnesses are fragments of, I believe it is plausible that we can choose to insert ourselves into non-biological minds when we are choosing a next life if that is what we elect to do when this one ends.
