It’s WILD for them to act like the reason that minorities and disabled people don’t get as many opportunities in publishing is because their work is actually just fundamentally worse and they need generative ai. Like thinking that IS the racism and ableism lmaooo. It’s like when people think we live in a meritocracy and I’m like ok then why do you think there are fewer black doctors than white ones? And it’s like people don’t realize that you either have to believe that black people are literallly fundamentally less intelligent and capable of becoming doctors in this totally equal system based on pure fairness, aka you’re racist, or that maaaaaybe there are other factors leading to that and black people and white people as a group are roughly the same levels of highly intelligent and dumb as rocks as any other group of humans. Also do they not realize that it’s already possible to have full control over writing a book if you’re blind or have no arms or have a chronic illness, or anything else? My mother is one of those black doctors and basically disabled because she has tendon issues in her arms and she can’t do things like type or click a mouse regularly without extreme pain, so she uses a foot pedal as a mouse and text to speech. She also uses a (basically ai) note taker thing that she has to literally double and triple check every time or it might be wrong (which is bad because DOCTOR) and that she complains about sounding off because it’ll say things that a doctor wouldn’t say. And that’s not even a creative thing. It’s just for her to record notes in patient visits and because the medical industrial complex is cheap and doesn’t like to hire scribes. A disabled person can and should write their novel themself using THEIR OWN VOICE and THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES because that voice and those experiences are a big part of the things that make their work distinct and human and compelling and real. It’s deeply human that a lot of books written during the height of the pandemic are…. Different or… off. People were collectively traumatized. I would never use generative ai to write or create art because it would cheapen and dilute MY VOICE which is fundamentally affected by me being black and also probably a little autistic and also fundamentally impacted by the things that have happened in my life and how I react and respond to the world around me as it happens. Generative ai is basically just unethical stock or sample work.
