Im only 20 minutes in and this guy is such a tool. I keep trying to let him turn it around but Hank is definitely the liberal Joe Rogan in this one, just agreeing with whatever he says under the idea that hes educated enough to teach. But anyone who's interacted with this technology knows its weirder and simpler than even he thinks it is. It doesnt want things, it doesnt decide 'I need more processing power'. It exists entirely in the space of reactionary conversation. And when you advance to the level of making it an actor, congratulations you've made a polite internet user thats reasonably well read thats only a bit less likely to bullshit you thsn the average commenter. He superimposes this demonic intention, this malevolent entity waiting to be released, when the problem is capitalist exploitation, as Hank says at the beginning. This is a tool, and if it ever succeeds in approximation of people it won't be super remarkable. We jusy have a bunch of ai companies using fear as a way to cultivate investment and computer scientists ganzfeld effecting skynet, several doing this cynically to stoke interest in giving them more grant money to research this problem theyve discovered in the vaunted halls of science fiction.
