People arent so dumb that they wouldnt understand that the highest unemployment in history isnt a skill issue. Media companies dont have the power to censor a major outcry for ubi, the internet is more dominant and they dont have the ability to regulate it, and ai companies lobbying wont work with people voting for politicians against ai. If they even attempt to censor protests for ubi that would instantly be national news and enable the streisand effect. Plus even ignoring all of that, if over a quarter of all working age people are unemployed, that would cause a economic collapse regardless of what AI is doing, if people dont have money to buy things, ai has nothing to do. Companies dont want a world where people are so poor they cant buy anything, they just want to be more efficient than competitors. They would likely promote ubi if anything because if all companies are paying into it none have a leg up, and they can all replace workers, and it would prevent more severe anti-trust or monopoly cases they could face. Schools arent going to be cocomelon watchparties, parents care too much about kids to allow that, and there would likely be decades of continued primary education from tradition no matter what. Once people are decades seperated from needing to work to live, then MAYBE they stop caring about education. But with nothing else to do culture might promote education as social value instead of economic.
