I like the AI art stuff but everything stated about IP, opting in/out is spot on. I think the turning point against this widespread infringement will be major companies like Disney and Getty getting involved and pushing for regulations that will force the AI art platforms that charge for their services to start from scratch with data sets that only include opted in and public domain works.
What's baffling about the cold, callous and un-empathic attitude some people hold is that they have blinders on and think they're just sticking it to "uptight entitled artists" and don't understand that other forms of AI are coming for *their* and their friends/families' livelihoods too. Within the next 5 to 10 years easily. And then they too will be crying about getting fired or being unable to find new work because a bot or software algorithm does literally everything that they once spent years training for. That's when they will join the earlier AI detractors in demanding fairness and protection.
