Idk why consciousness by definition seems to require sleep and ruminating in order to be considered consciousness lol
I think those autonomous robot dogs are the closest we have so far, they are "aware" of their environment through the use of "senses", but their decision making logic is still far too basic to simulate a neural network on the scale of a brain.
I imagine we might start growing brains in jars so to speak that will be integrated into future ai
